KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of South Cotabato has greenlit a ₱427.1-million supplemental investment program to back key climate action initiatives and major infrastructure projects across the province this year.
Through Resolution No. 2026-426, the provincial board unanimously approved the CY 2026 Climate Change Expenditure Tagged Supplemental Annual Investment Program (CCET-SAIP) No. 1 during its regular session on August 24.
Appropriations Committee Chairperson and lead author Board Member Nilda B. Almencion stressed that the additional funding will directly benefit core sectors vital to community growth and disaster preparedness.
“The supplemental investment program includes priority projects in health, agriculture, infrastructure, institutional development, disaster risk reduction, and other development areas,” Almencion said.
The newly approved package serves as an official financial framework for upcoming local projects.
Funding will be drawn from the province’s General Fund, the 20% Local Development Fund, the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund, and other available financial reserves.
The program was earlier endorsed by the Provincial Development Council (PDC) last March before receiving full backing from SP co-authors Cecile E. Diel, Ervin B. Luntao, Ross G. Rosal, and Annabelle G. Pingoy.
