South Cotabato Barangay Nutrition Scholars express gratitude to Gov. Tamayo for prioritizing health programs.

South Cotabato, Philippines—Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) Imelda Sugan from Barangay Lamfugon, Lake Sebu, expressed immense gratitude towards Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. for his unwavering support for health programs in the province. Sugan’s appreciation came after the successful evaluation conducted by the Provincial Nutrition Committee to assess the impact of the province’s nutrition programs at the grassroots level.

The evaluation serves as a vital step to measure the effectiveness of these initiatives in improving community health. The program monitors the work of all BNS members, with each local government unit (LGU) selecting an outstanding BNS for their respective areas, focusing on nutrition and wellness. According to Sugan, the work is incredibly challenging, as BNS members are tasked with going door-to-door to reach beneficiaries with essential services. Although this can sometimes be difficult due to the vast coverage of their barangays, Sugan emphasized that it is part of their responsibility and mandate.

Sugan stated

Furthermore, Sugan highlighted the positive results of these efforts, noting a decrease in the number of malnourished individuals in the area. She also conveyed a message of appreciation to Governor Tamayo for his dedication to advancing health and nutrition programs in South Cotabato, which continue to make a significant impact on the community’s well-being. Through his leadership, the province has seen substantial progress in addressing malnutrition and promoting public health.
