South Cotabato bolsters health services with expanded hospital facilities

KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO — The provincial government continues to strengthen its healthcare system through ongoing infrastructure upgrades, highlighting its commitment to improving hospital capacity and expanding access to quality medical services across the province.

Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. reaffirmed this thrust as he reported continued developments in major health facility projects, particularly the expansion of hospital infrastructures designed to accommodate more patients and enhance critical care services.

“There are addition of modern hospital facilities that include expanded ward areas, private rooms, and Intensive Care Units (ICU), aimed at improving the capacity of provincial and district hospitals to handle both routine and emergency cases,” the governor said.

These upgrades are part of a broader strategy to decongest major health facilities and ensure that patients can receive higher-level care closer to their communities without the need for long-distance transfers.

Among the ongoing projects is the construction of a new two-storey building at Norala District Hospital, where initial construction activities have already started following preparatory site works.

The facility is expected to mirror the province’s standard hospital expansion design, providing additional inpatient wards, private rooms, and a dedicated ICU once completed.

Health authorities said the expansion program reflects increasing patient admissions across district hospitals, which has prompted the provincial government to accelerate infrastructure development in key health facilities.

Once operational, these upgraded structures are expected to significantly improve service delivery by increasing bed capacity, strengthening emergency response capabilities, and supporting more efficient patient management systems across South Cotabato’s hospital network.

Governor Tamayo emphasized that these initiatives are part of the administration’s long-term vision of a more resilient and accessible healthcare system.

“Patuloy tayong magtatayo ng mga pasilidad na magliligtas ng buhay at magbibigay ng pag-asa sa ating mga mamamayan,” he said, underscoring the province’s continuing investment in life-saving health infrastructure.

The provincial government said it remains focused on completing these projects to ensure that residents across South Cotabato benefit from more responsive and modern healthcare services in the coming years.
