Koronadal City, South Cotabato | September 26, 2025- The Provincial Government of South Cotabato has confirmed that all locally-owned firearms are fully accounted for and renewed, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
During a recent Peace and Order Council meeting, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that the firearms were inspected, all properly accounted for and with valid licenses.
Ana Rose Kasan, Officer-in-Charge of the Provincial General Services Office (PGSO), said the firearms registered under the local government are licensed and renewed annually.
She added that firearms previously issued to barangays have been retrieved and are now properly assigned to authorized personnel.
Eleuterio Nodado, Chief of the Provincial Security Unit (PSU), said security personnel are not allowed to carry LGU-owned firearms outside government premises.
“These firearms are properly turned over to the next on-duty personnel to maintain strict custody and accountability,” he said.
Nudado also highlighted the professionalism of his team, noting that “all our personnel attend an annual gun handling seminar to refresh their skills, and the majority are criminology graduates, ensuring proper handling and adherence to safety protocols.”
For those who have transactions at the Capitol, Nodado said security personnel must be “respectful and courteous, especially to those coming from far-flung areas.”
“People with transactions, especially those who don’t know where the offices are, should be properly assisted, as they may be unsure where to go,” Nodado added.
