KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. ordered a 65% reduction in fuel use to address rising costs while keeping services intact.
The directive limits fuel use to 30,000 liters, down from about 80,000 liters monthly.
Tamayo said the move cuts costs and improved efficiency amid rising fuel prices.
“The reduction targets inefficiencies, not services,” he said.
He assured that priority programs—health, education, food security, infrastructure, and social protection—will continue without disruption.
The provincial government also confirmed that funding for basic services will remain unchanged, with possible adjustments if needed.
Departments are adopting fuel-saving measures such as optimizing routes, reducing non-essential travel, and improving vehicle use.
The governor said the move will manage costs and promote disciplined spending while maintaining services in South Cotabato.
