LAKE SEBU, South Cotabato — The Provincial Government of South Cotabato has distributed ₱400,000 worth of medical supplies to residents of Sitio Kolonbong, Barangay Lamfugon, Lake Sebu last week, in support of the Solar Electrification Program initiated by the Manila Electric Company (MERALCO).
The medical supplies were turned over to the local health center and the beneficiary community, aiming to strengthen healthcare delivery and ensure better access to essential services in the remote area.
The initiative complements MERALCO’s solar electrification project, which provides sustainable and reliable energy to the sitio and its public facilities.
One of the beneficiaries, Maria Liling Banag, a community health worker, expressed her gratitude for the assistance.
“This is a big help for our community. With the solar power and the new medical supplies, we can now attend to patients even at night and ensure better health services for everyone,” she said.
Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. said the provincial government remains committed to improving access to health and social services in geographically isolated areas. He added that their collaboration with MERALCO reflects the province’s goal of bringing development closer to the people and ensuring that every community in South Cotabato becomes self-sustaining and well-served.
The partnership highlights the province’s ongoing efforts to integrate renewable energy and healthcare development, ensuring that even far-flung communities like Sitio Kolonbong benefit from inclusive growth and sustainable public services.
