The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has named South Cotabato provincial employee Romel Tison Evangelio a national winner of the 2025 Gawad Lingkod Bayan ng Pangulo.
Evangelio, Administrative Aide III (Driver I), was recognized for going beyond his duties as a government driver and spearheading community innovations—most notably the tire path pavement project, which improved access for residents in remote areas of the province.
In an interview, Evangelio shared that his motivation comes from the genuine appreciation of the people he serves.
“For me, seeing the people’s acceptance, their smiles, and hearing them say—perhaps for the first time—that the government is truly reaching out, makes every struggle worthwhile and my work even more fulfilling,” he said.
“Mr. Evangelio is an employee who does not stop at fulfilling his actual work,” said Cris Pingkunn Fuentes, Project Development Officer II and Evangelio’s immediate supervisor.
He extends his hand to help his colleagues, especially in tasks that require additional manpower. His commitment and initiative make him an inspiration to many, Fuentes said.
His recognition underscores the Provincial Government of South Cotabato’s commitment to grassroots innovation and exemplary service, proving that even the simplest roles, when performed with passion and sincerity, can create meaningful change in communities.
The Gawad Lingkod Bayan ng Pangulo is the CSC’s highest honor, conferred on individuals or groups whose outstanding performance or innovative work has made a significant impact on public interest, national security, or national patrimony.
