South Cotabato expands free preventive healthcare through YAKAP Program

KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO –The Provincial Government of South Cotabato continues to expand access to healthcare services through the YAKAP (Yaman ng Kalusugan Program), a preventive healthcare initiative designed to provide free primary medical services to residents.

The program focuses on the early detection and prevention of illnesses, helping reduce medical expenses for families while encouraging regular health consultations among community members.

According to Dr. Belen U. Rosada of the Norala District Hospital Public Health Unit, the program is open to all Filipinos, from children to senior citizens.

“I encourage residents to enroll in the program to fully benefit from the health services offered by the provincial government,” Rosada said.

She added that residents who wish to avail of the program must first secure or verify their PhilHealth Identification Number (PIN) and register through the PhilHealth Member Portal, the eGovPH mobile application, or by visiting the nearest PhilHealth office or YAKAP-accredited health facility.

After registration, members may choose an accredited primary care provider where they can receive consultations and recommended laboratory tests.

Through the YAKAP Program, members and their dependents may access free medical consultations, basic laboratory tests, health screenings for selected illnesses, essential medicines, and other primary healthcare services.

Rosada emphasized that qualified beneficiaries may also receive up to ₱20,000 worth of medicines annually.

The provincial government said the initiative forms part of its continuing effort to strengthen public healthcare services and ensure that quality medical assistance remains accessible to every South Cotabateño under the Serbisyong Tamayo program.
