South Cotabato fast-tracks replacement, contract signing of health navigators to sustain grassroots services

To ensure the uninterrupted delivery of healthcare services, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato has intensified the replacement and contract signing of Provincial Family Health Navigators across its 200 barangays.

Barangay Affairs Chief Dennis Dignadice confirmed that the ongoing recruitment and signing are designed to immediately address vacancies caused by resignations. A key part of this strategy is the enhancement of the provincial reporting system to resolve delays in honorariums—the primary concern cited by outgoing personnel.

“As we continue the replacement and contract signing, we are simultaneously strengthening our internal systems to better support our navigators. By ensuring the timely release of their honorariums, we can sustain their commitment to the communities they serve,” Dignadice explained.

The administrative push is part of a broader goal to maintain a workforce of 15,000 health navigators, ensuring every sitio and purok is covered.

Currently, each navigator is tasked with monitoring approximately 20 families, working closely with midwives, Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) to track household health conditions.

To further safeguard the welfare of the navigators, the province has simplified their requirements, mandating official reports only once a month.

Under the leadership of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., this continuous hiring and administrative refinement reinforce the province’s mission to provide every South Cotabateño family with reliable and direct access to essential health services.
