Koronadal City, South Cotabato – Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. has expressed full support for the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Anti-Epal policy, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and citizen-centered governance.
Governor Tamayo said the province had been practicing the principles of the Anti-Epal initiative even before the national directive, instructing provincial offices to remove politicians’ names and images from project tarpaulins and materials.
“We should follow the guidelines set in the memo, as they promote good governance. Instead of featuring names, the focus should be on informing residents, such as, ‘This is where your taxes go,” he said.
He added that government projects belong to the people and should reflect service, not personal recognition.
The Anti-Epal policy ensures that government projects, programs, and services highlight their purpose and funding source rather than any individual official. Provincial efforts also include community briefings and information campaigns to inform residents about ongoing projects and their benefits.
By prioritizing transparency over personal recognition, Governor Tamayo’s administration seeks to strengthen public trust and accountability, positioning South Cotabato as a model for ethical, people-focused governance in Mindanao.
