South Cotabato Guv awaits authority for 4Ps implementation

Koronadal City—Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. expressed for faster approval of his request for an authority to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the implementation of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in South Cotabato.

“I already submitted the agreement to Sangguniang Panlalawigan November last year,” Tamayo said in an interview during his monthly Governor Meets the Press.

The governor prayed for unity between the executive and legislative bodies of South Cotabato.

“I am trying to make an alliance with the legislators for faster delivery of services. Everything we make is for the greater common good of our constituents,” he said.

In a report filed by DSWD, 1224 families in South Cotabato were delisted after checking the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR), an information management system that identifies ‘who and where the poor are.

The available database of poor families is used as a reference in identifying potential beneficiaries of social protection programs such as the 4Ps.

“The DSWD said some of the beneficiaries were not in the new list because they were already alleviated from poverty while some have guideline issues,” Tamayo stressed out.

Under the national budget, P145.3 billion is allocated to the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and the Unconditional Cash Transfer Program, DSWD’s biggest share in its P158.55 budget billion this year.

The budget covers the monthly educational cash grants of P700 for senior high school beneficiaries and the monthly health grant of P750, based on the provisions of the 4Ps Act.
