Koronadal City, South Cotabato | November 10, 2025 —The South Cotabato HIV and AIDS Core Team (HACT) once again earned national recognition after receiving the Gawad Pulang Laso Excellence Award for the Implementation of STI, HIV, and AIDS Prevention and Control Program, along with the Excellence Award for HIV Treatment Hub during the 2025 Pugay Pangkalusugan Awards organized by the Department of Health – Center for Health Development (CHD) XII.
According to John Codilla, Infectious Disease Program Coordinator, this latest recognition marks the eighth consecutive year that South Cotabato has been honored with the Pulang Laso Award, a testament to the province’s unwavering commitment to HIV prevention and treatment.
“We are deeply honored and grateful to the Department of Health CHD XII for recognizing our efforts with the Gawad Pulang Laso Excellence Award for the Implementation of STI, HIV, and AIDS Prevention and Control Program, as well as the Excellence Award for HIV Treatment Hub — honors we have proudly and consistently received since 2017,” Codilla said.
He added that the recognition reflects not only the strength of South Cotabato’s health systems but also the dedication of its people.
“This recognition is a testament to the unwavering dedication, compassion, and excellence of our DPCU and HACT Teams. Their commitment to service, tireless efforts, and heart for every patient continue to be the backbone of our success,” Codilla emphasized.

The South Cotabato HACT remains steadfast in its mission to provide accessible, stigma-free, and quality healthcare services for people living with HIV and those at risk. Codilla said the team will continue to strengthen prevention programs and treatment support in collaboration with partner agencies and community advocates.
“We celebrate this milestone together — for our team, for our patients, and for a healthier South Cotabato,” Codilla concluded.
