South Cotabato, Philippines – The Provincial Government of South Cotabato through its Open Government Partnership-Secretariat took part in the OGP Localization Onboarding Program of the Department of Interior and Local Government Region 12 held at the City of Koronadal, South Cotabato, this week.
The Provincial Government shared its best practices in the implementation of the Open Government Partnership – being the pioneering local government unit in the region and in the Philippines to be a member of the OGP-Global.
Nine local government units across SOCCSKARGEN Region attended the onboarding program.
According to Jennifer Guadalupe-Ilao, OGP Secretariat of the Provincial Government, the province highlighted the various initiatives and programs of the province in line with the province’s implementation of the Open Government Partnership.
“We were able to share how we observe and practice the open government partnership here in our province especially on our various programs involving our partners from the civil society organizations” – Ilao said in an interview.
Through the mandate of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., the provincial government of South Cotabato reaffirms its commitment in promoting and practicing a transparent and open government through the continuous implementation of beneficial programs to the community.
“Being one of the pioneer members of the OGP in the Philippines, we make sure that in South Cotabato, we have a government that knows how to listen – and from listening to the people, we can formulate projects and programs needed by the community” – Governor Tamayo said.
In addition, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato will be extending technical assistance to participating Local Government Units in their OGP Localization programs.
It was remembered that last October 2025, Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. spoke on behalf of OGP-member local government units during the OGP Global Summit in Spain.
