South Cotabato hospitals push employee wellness through sports, recreational activities

KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato— Despite the demanding nature of healthcare service and daily hospital operations, government healthcare institutions in South Cotabato continue to prioritize the wellness and well-being of their employees through sports and recreational activities aimed at promoting work-life balance and unity in the workplace.

Recently, Norala District Hospital conducted Larong Pinoy activities as part of its Health and Wellness Program, participated in by employees from different sections and units of the hospital.

The activity featured traditional Filipino games designed to encourage physical wellness, teamwork, camaraderie, and stress relief among healthcare workers who regularly face high-pressure responsibilities in delivering public healthcare services.

Hospital management said the initiative was also intended to strengthen employee relationships and foster a healthier and more positive working environment within the institution.

Meanwhile, the South Cotabato Provincial Hospital also organized a pickleball tournament among employees, highlighting the growing importance of wellness-centered programs in government offices and healthcare facilities.

The initiative reflects the continuing effort of local institutions to ensure that employees remain physically active and mentally motivated even amid busy work schedules and public service demands.

South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. emphasized that employee welfare remains an important part of effective governance and quality public service.

“Public service becomes stronger when we also take care of the people behind it. Healthy, united, and motivated employees are essential in delivering better services to our communities,” Tamayo said.

The provincial government continues to encourage institutions under its supervision to integrate wellness initiatives into their programs as part of promoting a more balanced, healthy, and productive workforce.
