South Cotabato hosts 4-H Youth Pesta 2026 to empower young farmers

KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — The Provincial Government of South Cotabato, through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg), successfully conducted the 4-H South Cotabato Youth Pesta 2026, a two-day event held at the Provincial Demo Farm aimed at empowering young farmers and strengthening youth engagement in agriculture and community development.

The 4-H Club continues to serve as a vital platform for youth development, promoting not only agricultural skills but also values such as volunteerism, cooperation, dignity of labor, and environmental and cultural awareness.

Provincial Agriculturist Raul D. Teves said that the provincial government, through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, remains committed to supporting young farmers.

“Gapasalamat ako nga may ara gyapon sang mga kabataan nga ga-pursue sang farming. Kung ano man ang mga higko sa idalom sang inyo mga kuko, isa ina ka dungog kag padayon nga magasuporta ang gobyerno sa inyo,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nilda B. Almencion, Committee Chairperson on Agriculture, assured strong legislative backing for the initiative, emphasizing that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan will support and pass the necessary ordinances to sustain and strengthen the program.

The event featured a range of competitions, including the 4-H Provincial Excellence Achievers Awards (4-H PEAA), Search for the Most Outstanding 4-H Member and Coordinator, Agri-Innovation Pitching, Search for the Next 4-H Superstar, Short Film Contest, On-the-Spot Photography, and a Quiz Bee.

Seminars on mental health awareness and drug prevention were also conducted to address key concerns affecting the youth sector.

Organizers said the activity aims to enhance the skills, talents, and competencies of 4-H members while fostering camaraderie, leadership, and innovation among young farmers in the province.

Through the 4-H Youth Pesta 2026, the provincial government reaffirms its commitment to nurturing the next generation of agricultural leaders and promoting inclusive rural development in South Cotabato.
