South Cotabato — The Office of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (OPDRRMO) of South Cotabato has allocated PHP 10 million to enhance the training and capacity-building of disaster responders across the province, strengthening preparedness at the provincial, municipal, and barangay levels

The funding will support a series of specialized trainings, drills, and simulation exercises aimed at improving the skills, coordination, and readiness of disaster responders in all local government units (LGUs) and all members of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

These initiatives are designed to ensure faster, more effective response during natural and man-made emergencies especially in certain locations in the province that are considered hazard prone.

South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. has reaffirmed his support in the program and underscored the importance of empowering responders at the local level.

Capacity building of our disaster responders in every LGU is crucial. When our local responders are well-trained and prepared, we can ensure faster response, better coordination, and safer communities during times of disaster.” – Governor Tamayo  said.

Furthermore, according to the PDRRMO, the training programs will focus on disaster preparedness, emergency response protocols, and risk reduction strategies, aligned with national standards.

Priority hazards include floods, earthquakes, landslides, and fire-related incidents.
