South Cotabato — The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPVet) continues its commitment to rabies prevention with the ongoing mass vaccination campaign in the Municipality of Norala this November.
Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Ramelo G. Quinton, DVM, encouraged pet owners to participate in the ongoing vaccination activities in Norala and the upcoming municipal campaigns
“Vaccinating pets is the most effective way to prevent rabies, protect families, and maintain a safe community. We urge all residents to cooperate and bring their pets to the vaccination sites,” he added.
Dr. Quinton also emphasized the importance of responsible pet ownership.
“We must be responsible pet owners. Any dog or cat three months old or older should be vaccinated. Keep your pets secured by either caging or tying them, and ensure that unvaccinated animals do not get exposed to rabies from stray or infected animals,” he said.
From July to October 2025, PVet vaccinated a total of 24,248 dogs and cats across all municipalities in South Cotabato, serving 10,062 pet owners.
These numbers highlight the province’s proactive approach to ensuring animal health and public safety.
The OPVet continues to coordinate with local government units, barangay officials, and volunteers to reach remote areas and ensure that no pet is left unprotected. Residents are reminded that keeping pets vaccinated is not only a legal responsibility but also a vital step in safeguarding public health.
