South Cotabato launches province-wide nutrition program evaluation

SOUTH COTABATO, PHILIPPINES | MARCH 14, 2026 – The Provincial Government of South Cotabato has deployed the Provincial Nutrition Evaluation Team (PNET) to officially launched an evaluation of nutrition programs in municipalities across the province.

Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Rudy S. Jimenea also expressed full support for the evaluation, emphasizing that the activity will help measure the effectiveness and quality of nutrition programs in barangays across the province.

“The evaluation is conducted under the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro), where members of the Provincial Nutrition Committee will assess the performance, accomplishments, and areas for improvement of barangay nutrition programs,” Jimenea said.

The program is organized by the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer – Nutrition Program and led by Community Affairs.

The PNET team will visit several municipalities according to the following schedule:

  • March 10 – Morning: Surallah | Afternoon: Banga
  • March 11 – Morning: Tantangan | Afternoon: Tampakan
  • March 12 – Morning: Tupi | Afternoon: Polomolok
  • March 13 – Morning: Lake Sebu | Afternoon: Tboli
  • March 17 – Morning: Norala | Afternoon: Santo Niño

In 2025, Dr. Neil Crespo of Surallah was awarded the title of Most Outstanding Municipal Nutrition Coordinator in South Cotabato.

Additionally, the province recognized other top performers in the Municipal Nutrition Action Coordinator category last year.

The First Runner-Up is awarded to Marichu Handug (Tupi) and the Second Runner-Up was Mae Amor Morandante (Polomolok).

Based on the 2025 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony for Region XII (SOCCSKSARGEN), the Municipality of Surallah has emerged as a top-performing municipality in South Cotabato for nutrition programs, achieving a 3rd Year Green Banner Seal of Compliance with an outstanding score of 91.2%.

 

Here are the top-performing municipalities in South Cotabato in 2025:

1st Place: Municipality of Surallah (91.2%)

2nd Place: Municipality of Tantangan (87.16%)

3rd Place: Municipality of Sto. Niño (86.2%)

Other Awardees: T’boli (85.25%), Tupi (85.2%), and Polomolok (85.19%).

 

The evaluation aims to ensure stronger, more responsive nutrition programs that will benefit families and communities throughout South Cotabato.

The initiative is strongly supported by Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., who underscored the importance of evaluating local nutrition initiatives to further improve government services for communities.
