South Cotabato Marks Real Property Awareness Month, Promotes Transparent and Accurate Property Assessment

KORONADAL CITY — The Provincial Assessor’s Office (OPASSO) joins the nationwide observance of Real Property Awareness Month this October and highlights the vital role of accurate property assessment in local governance and community development.

Engr. Ritchie Ballesta, OPASSO Officer-In-Charge, said the annual celebration aims to raise public awareness on the significance of declaring real properties correctly and ensuring proper valuation.

“Real property assessment serves as a key component in strengthening local revenue generation, enabling the government to deliver essential programs and services in education, health, infrastructure, and social development,” Ballesta said.

This year’s observance features the Search for Outstanding Municipal Assessor’s Office, an initiative that recognizes local offices demonstrating excellence, transparency, and integrity in providing public service.

“The observance of Real Property Awareness Month is an important reminder that accurate property assessment is at the heart of local revenue generation. Through our collective efforts, we ensure that the funds collected are used to support the growth and sustainability of our communities.”

The program also aims to inspire all municipal assessors to uphold high standards of professionalism and efficiency in property assessment.

In line with the search, the OPASS Evaluation Team conducted site visits to several municipal assessor’s offices across the province, including Tboli, Lake Sebu, Sto. Niño, Norala, Tantangan, Polomolok, and Tupi.

Each office presented its best practices in maintaining accurate property records and implementing fair assessment processes that support good governance.

OPAASO is reinforcing its role as a crucial partner in building a progressive and fiscally responsible South Cotabato.
