Koronadal City, South Cotabato – The Provincial Government of South Cotabato has been recognized as a Regional Awardee in the 2025 Governance Exemplars for Meaningful Service for Sangguniang Kabataan (SK GEMS), highlighting the province’s commitment to empowering youth leaders and strengthening impactful local governance initiatives.
The award acknowledges South Cotabato’s exemplary efforts in enhancing youth participation, implementing dynamic and results-oriented SK programs, and promoting transparent, responsive, and meaningful governance across its communities.
According to Hon. Vincent B. Figueroa, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President of South Cotabato, the recognition reflects the province’s strong youth engagement, effective programs, and sustained commitment to public service.
“This SK GEMS Award is the first recognition we have received in history, and it serves as proof that the initiatives we began have truly elevated our Sangguniang Kabataan. We will not stop here—we will ensure that in the future, with more projects to come, our SK continues to stand out in service, integrity, and accountability,” he said.
He added, “We are still far from our goal, but we are already far from where we started.”
Guided by Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr., this milestone was made possible through the collective efforts of the SK Provincial Federation, the Provincial Youth Development Office, the SK Municipal and City Federation Presidents, and the strong involvement of the youth.
The recognition stands as a collective accomplishment, reflecting South Cotabato’s dedication to uplifting the youth sector and advancing responsive, people-centered governance.
