KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — The 16 official candidates of Mutya ng South Cotabato 2026 were formally presented during the pageant’s sashing ceremony, officially marking the start of this year’s competition as one of the major highlights of the province’s 60th Foundation Anniversary and the 27th T’nalak Festival.
Held at the South Cotabato Provincial Capitol, the ceremony gathered provincial officials, municipal representatives, sponsors, families, and supporters in welcoming this year’s candidates, who will represent their respective municipalities and partner organizations throughout the competition.
This year’s roster features representatives from all 11 municipalities and city of South Cotabato alongside delegates from five partner organizations, reflecting the pageant’s broad participation across the province.
Adding to the excitement are four returning candidates who bring valuable experience and renewed determination as they once again vie for the coveted Mutya ng South Cotabato 2026 crown.
Inspired by the Mutya ng South Cotabato theme “Weaving Treasures, Celebrating Colors, Empowering South Cotabateña Beauty,” the ceremony celebrated the artistry of the T’nalak cloth while recognizing the individuality of every candidate and the stories they bring to this year’s search.
Addressing the candidates, Provincial Board Member Alicia Nicole Causing-Labordo, the Honorary Chairperson of Mutya ng South Cotabato 2026, reminded the candidates that wearing the official sash also means embracing a greater responsibility.
“As they receive their official sashes, they wear more than a symbol of competition. They carry a symbol of responsibility, pride, and purpose. Like the vibrant threads woven into every piece of T’nalak, each candidate brings her own unique story, voice, and aspiration that reflects the beauty and strength of South Cotabato,” Causing-Labordo said.
For Provincial Treasurer Alvim M. Batol, CPA, Committee Chairperson of Mutya ng South Cotabato 2026, the sashing ceremony represents the beginning of a meaningful experience for every candidate.
“Mutya ng South Cotabato has always been more than a beauty pageant. It is a platform that empowers young women to become ambassadors of our culture, champions of meaningful causes, and leaders who inspire positive change in their communities. We are excited to witness the growth of our 16 candidates as they embrace this opportunity and proudly represent the beauty, heritage, and values of South Cotabato,” Batol said.
The sashing ceremony formally opened the candidates’ participation in the official activities of Mutya ng South Cotabato 2026 as they prepare to compete for the prestigious title during the coronation night on July 15.
