KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO — The Provincial Development Council (PDC) of South Cotabato approved a series of resolutions during its 3rd Quarterly Meeting chaired by Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., covering measures on public health, local governance, infrastructure, environmental protection, disaster recovery, tourism, education, innovation, housing, and climate action.
The approved measures are expected to support programs and initiatives that address community needs, improve public services, strengthen infrastructure, and provide development opportunities for South Cotabateños.
“Every resolution approved by the Provincial Development Council is a step toward addressing the needs of our communities and advancing the development of South Cotabato. Through these measures, we strengthen our services, improve infrastructure, protect our communities, and create more opportunities for our people. Our goal is to ensure that development is felt in every sector and every community across the province,” Governor Tamayo said.
Among the approved measures was Resolution No. 2026-59, which urged the Provincial Integrated Health Office to strengthen dengue prevention and control efforts among local health offices in response to the increasing number of dengue cases.
The council also approved measures supporting stronger participation of civil society organizations in local development, including the provision of office space and facilities for civil society desks and local people’s councils, as well as measures promoting proper disposal of worn-out Philippine flags.
Infrastructure development was also addressed through resolutions urging local building officials to ensure that necessary permits and clearances are secured before infrastructure projects begin and requiring compliance with the mandatory public QR code system for infrastructure project billboards.
The PDC likewise supported measures to protect public infrastructure from quarry operations, as well as requests for additional funding and completion of priority bridge and road-related projects in the province.
These included the proposed PHP50 million funding for approach slabs, riverbank and slope protection, street lighting, and road safety features for the New Colongulo Bridge in Surallah; an estimated PHP80 million for the completion of the New Dumangas Bridge in T’boli; and the installation or restoration of missing and misplaced kilometer posts along national highways in South Cotabato.
The council also approved resolutions supporting the implementation of the Early Recovery Plan following the Magnitude 7.8 Offshore Sarangani Earthquake, the 2027–2032 Tourism Development Plan, youth development initiatives, innovation and startup programs, and science and technology activities.
Other approved measures covered the identification of a suitable site for the National Housing Authority XII resettlement program, climate change-related investments, and initiatives supporting partnerships and development programs in the province.
The approved resolutions reflect the PDC’s continuing coordination among provincial and local government units, national government agencies, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders in addressing development priorities and improving the delivery of services for South Cotabateños.
