Koronadal City, Philippines — South Cotabato rolled out its newest tourism campaign, “SouthCot: Your Dream Escape Tour Circuits,” offering travelers a curated blend of natural wonders, adrenaline-filled activities, cultural immersion, and unique local cuisine.
Spearheaded by the provincial government in partnership with local tourism stakeholders, the campaign unveils five tour circuits that showcase the province’s rich diversity—from majestic waterfalls and sacred shrines to indigenous artistry and authentic farm-to-table experiences.
The Lake Sebu circuit, known as the “Dream Valley Tour,” offers an immersive cultural encounter with the Tboli community, renowned for their artistry and traditions.
Visitors can witness the intricate craft of tnalak weaving, the soulful rhythm of Tboli chanting, and the timeless skill of brass casting.
Lake Sebu proudly honors four of its National Living Treasures (Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan awardees): Lang Dulay (tnalak weaving), Barbara Ofong (tnalak weaving), Rosie Sula (chanting), and Bundos Fara (brass casting).
The Dream Valley Tour also offers a heart-pounding ride on one of Southeast Asia’s highest ziplines, soaring over the world-famous Seven Falls.
Visitors may don the vibrant traditional attire of the Tboli, capture moments at the tranquil Lotus Garden, and find quiet reflection at the hilltop Divine Mercy Shrine, which offers a sweeping view of the lake.
On the Koronadal–Tantangan circuit, also known as the “Central Valley” tour, visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the local culture and cuisine.
In Tantangan, hands-on pottery sessions reveal the artistry and traditions of local crafts. The journey continues with tastings of galapong delicacies, sticky rice treats layered with coconut, sugar, or banana. Bridging Ilonggo and Ilocano culinary traditions in the City of Koronadal, as this is a melting pot of culture.
Guests can savor Ilonggo favorites such as batchoy and KBL alongside Ilocano classics like bagnet and pinakbet, offering a rich spectrum of flavors—sour, bitter, savory, and sweet. Whether grilled dishes, hearty stews, or traditional rice cakes and desserts, each taste reflects the land, waters, climate, and history that shape the Central Valley.
The “Lower Valley” tour immerses visitors in the Blaan culture of Tampakan and Tupi.
At the heart of this circuit is the Cultural Village of National Living Treasure Fu Yabing, where the intricate Tabih fabric is masterfully woven.
Guests can enjoy kakanin snacks at Kolon Datal Nature Park and feast on local dishes while taking in panoramic views of Mt. Matutum.
Tupi explores farms.
On the other hand, agriculture takes center stage in the Mid-Valley Tour, beginning with eco-friendly practices at the South Cotabato Nursery and Demo Farm.
In Surallah, the iconic Tri-People Monument stands as a symbol of harmony among Christians, Muslims, and Lumads, complemented by vibrant cultural performances and authentic local cuisine.
Travelers then head to Matinong’s Garden in Sto. Niño for a floral escape before ending with farmyard fun and organic treats at Duday Cita’s Farm.
To complete the experience, the T’boli circuit presents a royal package.
The Royale Valley Package begins with a royal encounter with the Tboli. Here, visitors experience age-old rituals, admire vibrant beadwork, and marvel at majestic Lake Holon—a culture steeped in dignity and symbolism.
This immersion is not just a visit—it is an invitation to witness a people whose way of life carries the regality of their ancestors.
Adventure awaits at the Bakngeb River, where nature’s raw beauty flows between limestone formations and crystal waters.
Here, the excitement of exploration blends seamlessly with the valley’s tranquil beauty, creating a perfect balance of adventure and serenity worthy of a royal escape.
Argien Ryan Asaria, Senior Tourism Operations Officer, said these circuits are incorporated in the Tourism Development Plan, which, as of press time, is in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
“The plan is up for review at the Sanggunian level,” Asaria said.
Meanwhile, Francis Cerbo, the Tourism Promotions chief, said the carefully designed circuits aim to spark economic growth, promote cultural appreciation, and invite travelers to experience South Cotabato in a new way.
“South Cotabato is positioning itself as one of Mindanao’s must-visit destinations, promising journeys that leave every traveler with lasting memories,” Cerbo added.
Cerbo said there are seven DOT-accredited tour operators and two accredited transport groups in South Cotabato.
