KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — A total of 1,955 Job Order (JO) workers and 129 Contract of Service (COS) personnel of the Provincial Government of South Cotabato are set to benefit from a proposed salary increase following the implementation of the approved regional wage adjustment in the SOCCSKSARGEN Region.

The proposal was formally delivered today, May 19, 2026, to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of South Cotabato, where local officials are expected to prioritize and expedite its approval to immediately provide the salary adjustments to affected workers.

According to  the Provincial Human Resource Management Officer Fredaliza Gazo, the provincial government remains fully compliant with the implementation of the mandated minimum wage in the region.

Ang Provincial Government sang South Cotabato is compliant as to implementation of the minimum wage,” Gazo said.

Under the current wage structure in Region 12, the minimum wage for non-agricultural workers is set at P446 per day, while workers in the agricultural sector receive P430 daily.

The adjustment is part of the continuing effort of the government to ensure that workers are protected from the effects of inflation and rising living costs.

The salary increase proposal is expected to directly benefit thousands of JO and COS personnel who continue to serve in various offices and departments of the provincial government.

“These workers perform essential duties in public service, including administrative support, field operations, healthcare assistance, community programs, and infrastructure-related services,” the HR head said.

Gazo underscored that the administration of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. continues to recognize the dedication and contribution of non-regular workers in the provincial government.

She noted that under the leadership of Governor Tamayo, employee welfare remains among the top priorities of the provincial administration, especially for workers under JO and COS arrangements who continuously support government operations.

“The provincial government, under the leadership of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., values the support and services of Job Order and Contract of Service employees, which is why their benefits are being prioritized,” Gazo said.

Members of the provincial board are expected to deliberate on the proposal within the coming days. Once approved, the salary adjustment will take effect in accordance with the regional wage order and existing budgetary guidelines of the provincial government.
