South Cotabato Provincial People’s Council helps CSOs craft better project proposals to attract potential donors

KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — The South Cotabato Provincial People’s Council (SCPPC) continues to strengthen civil society organizations (CSOs) as partners in development through the conduct of a Partners’ Forum and Project Proposal Writeshop.

The initiative aims to promote more inclusive and responsive governance by helping CSOs develop projects that address community needs while providing opportunities to engage with potential government and private-sector partners.

According to Julius Ceasar D. Maniego, Cooperative Development Specialist I, the Office of the Provincial Cooperatives Development Officer (OPCDO), together with the SCPPC, continues to provide opportunities for CSOs to participate in policy formulation, planning, and decision-making.

“The OPCDO, together with SCPPC, has been working to strengthen the participation of CSOs in local governance by providing opportunities for them to take part in policy formulation, planning, and decision-making,” Maniego said.

Over the past three years, the council has undertaken organizational development and capacity-building activities, including the adoption of its Constitution and By-Laws and the formulation of its Strategic Development Plan 2026–2028 and CSO Development Agenda.

Meanwhile, Jenellyn Joy Depaloma, a CSO Batch 1 and writeshop participant, said the activity would help enhance their proposal-writing and technical skills and provide opportunities to connect with potential donors.

“This event will help us enhance our proposal writing and technical skills so that we can attract donors, and we will have the chance to get international donors,” Depaloma said.

She also emphasized the importance of ensuring that proposed projects respond to the actual needs of grassroots communities.

With the assistance of the OPCDO of South Cotabato and LGU-Koronadal City, the activity provided participants with practical guidance in developing clear, relevant, and feasible project proposals based on identified community needs.
