South Cotabato Pushes for 100% Implementation of Universal Health Care through Electronic Medical Records

South Cotabato, Philippines | October 15, 2025 – South Cotabato is making strong strides to fully implement Universal Health Care (UHC) by leveraging Electronic Medical Records (EMR) to ensure comprehensive monitoring of every resident’s health status, Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. emphasized during the recent Governor Meet the Press.

The governor said the province has already trained majority of its Barangay Health Workers and Provincial Health Navigators to utilize this system effectively.

“We are doing everything we can to address gaps and achieve full implementation of UHC,” Gov. Tamayo said.

He explained that while there were initial concerns about possible shortfalls, the training of Provincial Health Navigators has proven key in empowering Barangay Health Workers, enabling nearly complete coverage and monitoring across all barangays.

Governor Tamayo noted that South Cotabato is being recognized as a model by neighboring provinces and even other regions.

He shared that other local government units have shown interest in learning from South Cotabato’s success.

“They want to see firsthand how we run our programs effectively. In fact, the Governor of Bohol even said, ‘I’ll just visit you to learn,’ he added.

With this proactive approach, South Cotabato continues to lead in health innovation and community care, showing how technology and dedicated training can bring the promise of UHC closer to reality for every Filipino.
