South Cotabato secures ₱87.8M boost for primary healthcare

Koronadal City, South Cotabato, Philippines | September 18, 2025 —-South Cotabato’s commitment to strengthening its healthcare system reached another milestone as the province formally received ₱87.8 million from PhilHealth Region XII to fund its Primary Care Provider Network (PCPN).

The fund will help ensure that every municipality in the province can improve the delivery of basic healthcare services. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Conrado Braña stressed the importance of equitable sharing of resources.


“We will distribute the funds fairly to every municipality based on their performance to ensure equal opportunity and better healthcare services for all of South Cotabato, he said.

Dr. Braña added that this support reinforces South Cotabato’s continuing efforts to provide sustainable health services to its residents.

“This fund is a big help to further strengthen our Primary Care Provider Network and achieve a healthier South Cotabato,” he further emphasized.

Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. described the turnover as a shared victory for the people of South Cotabato.

“I am only your driver in governance. I am entrusting this to you so that together, we can steer it towards rightful and good governance for a progressive South Cotabato,” the governor said, underscoring his belief that progress comes through collective effort.

Witnessing the ceremony were PhilHealth XII Regional Vice President Dr. Hector Zenon Leonardo P. Malate, along with other PhilHealth and provincial government officials and staff. Their presence highlighted the value of collaboration in achieving a healthier South Cotabato.

The turn over ceremony was a part of the two-day Provincial Health Summit spearheaded by the Office of the Provincial Health Officer that started earlier today.
