KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — The Provincial Government of South Cotabato is set to strengthen its evidence-based governance and public service delivery following the official turnover of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) data by the Philippine Statistics Authority Region XII earlier this week.
Led by PSA XII Regional Director Atty. Maqtahar L. Manulon, CESO V, together with PSA South Cotabato Chief Statistical Specialist Ms. Eileen A. Berdeprado, the ceremony formally transferred the updated CBMS datasets to the provincial government and local government units across the province.
Representing Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. during the ceremony was Vice Governor Arthur Y. Pingoy Jr., alongside representatives from the province’s lone city and ten municipalities through their respective planning and development officers.
According to Hazel Rhudy, Statistician II of the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, the turnover of the CBMS data will significantly enhance the province’s capability to craft responsive programs and policies grounded on accurate and updated community-level information.
The data will serve as a vital tool in identifying priority sectors, addressing gaps in social services, and ensuring that government interventions directly respond to the needs of communities.
Furthermore, Vice Governor Pingoy Jr. underscored the importance of reliable statistics in strengthening local governance and improving the lives of South Cotabateños
“Reliable and updated data is essential in crafting programs that genuinely address the needs of our people. Through the CBMS, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato will be able to further enhance its planning and decision-making processes to ensure that no community is left behind,” Pingoy Jr. said.
In addition, Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. emphasized that the turnover of the CBMS data will further strengthen the Provincial Government’s commitment to responsive and inclusive governance.
“Accurate and updated data is crucial in ensuring that government programs truly reach the people who need them the most. Through the CBMS, we can better identify the needs of our communities, improve our planning processes, and implement more targeted interventions that will uplift the lives of South Cotabateños,” Governor Tamayo said.
The Provincial Government also recognized the continued partnership with PSA in promoting data-driven governance, particularly in supporting development planning from the barangay level up to the provincial level.
The CBMS is a tool designed to generate disaggregated data necessary for local planning, program implementation, and monitoring of socioeconomic conditions. Through the updated database, local government units in South Cotabato are expected to further improve policy formulation and the delivery of essential public services.
PSA reaffirmed its commitment to providing reliable and relevant statistics that support inclusive growth and sustainable development, ensuring that local governments have access to accurate information in crafting responsive and impactful programs for their constituents.
