KORONADAL CITY — The Provincial Government of South Cotabato (PGSC) continues to strengthen its research and innovation efforts as it conducted a two-day Technical Writing Training and Seminar for members of the Provincial Research, Development and Innovation (PRDI) Academe Committee on November 24–25, 2025.
The initiative aimed to further capacitate committee members in producing research outputs that respond to the pressing needs of the province.
Through the training, participants were equipped with enhanced skills in developing clear, evidence-based, and policy-relevant research papers that can support the province’s long-term development agenda.
Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. emphasized the vital role of the academe and technical experts in shaping responsive public programs.
“Research is essential in ensuring that our policies genuinely address the needs of our communities. When we invest in developing strong research capacities, we invest in better governance and a better future for South Cotabato.” – Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., stated.
OPPDC’s Research Evaluation and Monitoring Division Head, Jose Daniel Salamat, also highlighted the value of the initiative.
“Our goal is to build a culture of innovation within the province. By improving the quality of our research outputs, we ensure that development strategies are well-informed and grounded on real data.” – Salamat said.
The training further served as a venue for members to align research priorities, refine proposal structures, and strengthen the overall quality of studies endorsed to the PRDI Committee.
By ensuring that research work is both rigorous and responsive, the province seeks to deepen its knowledge base for better planning, innovation-driven solutions, and more informed decision-making.
The activity reflects PGSC’s continuing commitment to advancing a culture of research and innovation across sectors, reinforcing the vital role of collaborative expertise in shaping South Cotabato’s development direction.
