South Cotabato, Philippines — The Provincial Government of South Cotabato, through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), completed the 4th Delivery of the Supplemental Feeding Program (SFP) for Calendar Year 2026, further strengthening its commitment to improving the health and nutritional status of young children across the province.
The delivery forms part of the province’s continuing partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Local Government Units (LGUs), Child Development Workers (CDWs), barangay officials, and other stakeholders in ensuring that nutritious meals reach children enrolled in Child Development Centers.
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Sonia P. Bautista, RSW, emphasized that the Supplemental Feeding Program is more than providing meals—it is an investment in the future of every child.
“Ang Supplemental Feeding Program ay isa sa pinakamahalagang programa para sa ating mga kabataan. Sa pamamagitan ng maayos na koordinasyon ng ating mga LGUs, Child Development Workers, barangay officials, at iba pang katuwang, natitiyak natin na ang bawat batang nangangailangan ay nabibigyan ng sapat at masustansyang pagkain. Ang bawat pagkain na ating naihahain ay hakbang tungo sa mas malusog na kinabukasan ng ating mga anak,” Bautista said.
The successful implementation of the program reflects the strong collaboration among partner agencies and communities, ensuring that feeding activities continue without interruption and contribute to the overall well-being and development of 1569 children in Banga, South Cotabato.
She also expressed her gratitude to everyone involved in the implementation of the program, recognizing their dedication in making every delivery successful.
As the province continues to prioritize the welfare of children, the Supplemental Feeding Program funded by DSWD and implemented by the Provincial Government of South Cotabato provides free hot meals and milk to children aged 3 to 5 in Child Development (Day Care) Centers and toddlers in Supervised Neighborhood Play.
The program scaled up to an 180-day feeding period to improve child nutrition nationwide. The province also provided a certified nutritionist from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer through the Nutrition Section to ensure food is well-balanced in combating malnutrition and promoting healthy growth during the critical early years of development.
Meanwhile, Tita Vasquez, a Day Care Worker from the Municipality of Banga, shared how the program continues to make a positive difference in the lives of children under her care.
“Malaki ang naitutulong ng Supplemental Feeding Program sa ating mga bata. Bukod sa pagkakaroon nila ng masustansyang pagkain araw-araw sa Child Development Center, nakikita rin namin ang pagbuti ng kanilang kalusugan at pagpasok sa klase. Nagpapasalamat kami sa Provincial Government, DSWD, at sa lahat ng sumusuporta sa programang ito dahil ramdam ng mga magulang at ng buong komunidad ang malasakit para sa ating mga kabataan,” Vasquez said.
