Koronadal City—The Provincial Treasurer’s Office of South Cotabato is set to conduct an auction to delinquent properties on November 22, Local Tax Operations Officer III Zenaida Erum confirmed during the Hinun-anon sa Tama kag Maayo nga Serbisyo.

At least 2000 random properties with unpaid taxes are being posted in a local newspaper recently, Erum said.

“We have released Notice of Delinquency to property owners to inform them of their tax due to the provincial government,” she said, stressing that series of pulong-pulong are also performed to every barangay as a strategy to strengthen the information dissemination.

Under the local government code, the local government unit (LGU) is authorized to auction delinquent properties in order to compel the entities to pay their tax obligations to the province.

Erum  said that they have been sending out notices to individual about their unsettled obligations.
