South Cotabato, Philippines – The Provincial Government of South Cotabato will officially open the Christmas season on December 1, 2025, through the annual ‘Pasko sa Kapitolyo 2025’ celebration to be held in front of the Provincial Capitol along Alunan Avenue, Koronadal City.
In an interview, Anna Rose Kasan, Provincial General Services Officer, said the celebration will carry the theme “Liwanag ng Pasko” with the tagline “Sa puting liwanag ng Pasko, magkakaisang puso ang ilaw ng pag-asa. Kristiyano, Muslim at Lumad–Isang Pasko, Isang Pamilya.”
“The event will highlight unity and harmony among the tri-people of South Cotabato—Christians, Muslims, and Lumad,” Kasan said.
This activity has an approved budget of ₱450,000, and despite the limited financial allocation, the provincial government will maximize available resources to deliver a meaningful and festive celebration.
Kasan stressed the Christmas decorations will be handcrafted by Team OPGSO of the Office of the Provincial General Services Officer, in collaboration with local artist Ronito R. Subaldo, owner of McBaldz Artworks.
“The display will combine recycled lighting materials with newly purchased structural components, showcasing the creativity and resourcefulness of the provincial workforce,” she pointed out.
The event will feature a musical presentation by the South Cotabato Family Rondalla, followed by a one-night Christmas Bazaar organized by the South Cotabato Economic Enterprise Management Office (SCEEMO) and the South Cotabato Economic and Investment Promotion Center (SCEIPC).
“We have 10 booths will be provided for start-ups, MSMEs, and youth entrepreneurs, all free of charge to support local enterprises,” Kasan said, supporting local enterpreneurs.
A Cooperatives Booth, facilitated by Board Member Almencion, the Office of the Provincial Cooperative Development Officer (OPCDO), and the Provincial Cooperative Development Council (PCDC), will showcase locally made cooperative products.
Kasan shares that this year’s preparations reflect creativity and cultural pride.
“Every year, Pasko sa Kapitolyo is a labor of love that brings together creativity, collaboration, and community spirit. Our team will be crafting the decorations by hand, blending recycled lighting materials with newly purchased components to create a festive and meaningful display. More than the lights, this celebration will reflect the unity and hope shared by the tri-people of South Cotabato—Christians, Muslims, and Lumad.”
“Pasko sa Kapitolyo 2025: Liwanag ng Pasko” will serve as an invitation for all South Cotabateños to welcome the Christmas season with unity, cultural pride, and shared hope.
The ceremonial lighting of Pasko sa Kapitolyo will be streamed live at the official Facebook page of the Provincial Government of South Cotabato on December 1, 6PM.
