South Cotabato welcomes 11 batch of reintegrated citizens into the fold

TANTANGAN, SOUTH COTABATO — A new chapter of transformation unfolded as 18 beneficiaries officially graduated from the government’s Deradicalization and Reintegration Program at the Kapayapaang Angat Center in Barangay Tinongcop.

The 11th batch, composed of 11 Friends Rescued (FRs) and seven Former Violent Extremists (FVEs), completed the initiative under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP). This milestone marks their formal transition toward peaceful and productive lives after renouncing extremist beliefs.

The ceremony was supported by a multi-agency coalition, including the DILG, TESDA, DOLE, NHA, OPAPRU, DepEd-ALS, PhilHealth, and DSWD. Security forces from the South Cotabato Police Provincial Office (SCPPO) and the 105th and 6th Infantry Battalions also attended, underscoring a unified commitment to peace.

As part of the reintegration package, each graduate received ₱20,000 from the Provincial Government of South Cotabato and ₱5,000 from the DSWD to serve as startup capital for sustainable livelihoods. Additionally, two beneficiaries received ₱5,000 in supplementary aid from their respective local government units.

Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Sonia L. Bautista emphasized that the program’s success relies on community acceptance and holistic intervention.

“Today’s graduation is a testament to the courage of our beneficiaries to choose peace over conflict,” Bautista said. We do not only provide financial assistance but also restore hope and strengthen families. Reintegration is a shared responsibility,” Bautista said.

Bautista further noted that the program includes psychosocial support, skills training, and values formation to address the root causes of radicalization.

The completion of the 11th batch reinforces the government’s dedication to peace, proving that through sustained intervention, every individual deserves a second chance at a resilient and purposeful future.
