South Cotabato’s best practices in social welfare and ECCD inspire LGU Dinagat Islands

Koronadal City, South Cotabato | October 7 , 2025 – Employees from LGU Dinagat Islands commended the exemplary best practices and programs of LGU South Cotabato, particularly the province’s Social Welfare Development Program, including initiatives on Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) and the Provincial Child Protection Council (PCPC), during their benchmarking visit on October 7, 2025.

Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (PSWDO) Sonia L. Bautista presented the province’s innovative programs and services, highlighting their positive impact on children, families, and communities.

She emphasized that these efforts are in line with the vision and directive of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. to deliver Tama at Maayos na Serbisyo to every South Cotabateño.

Elizabeth Teodora Camillo, Dinagat Islands Nutrition Officer and ECCD Focal Person, expressed her appreciation to South Cotabato.

“We learned a lot from PSWDO especially the best practices in Infant-Toddler Early Development,” she said.

(Marami kaming natutunan at nakuha sa inyo, napaka-expert ng inyong PSWDO. Gusto naming makuha kung ano yung mga best practices ninyo tungkol sa Infant-Toddler Early Development (ITED)).

She thanked the province of South Cotabato for the warm welcome and they hoped to bring the best practices to the constituents of the province of Dinagat Island especially the welfare of the children..

The visit also provided an opportunity for both LGUs to exchange insights and strengthen collaboration toward improving social welfare services.

The province was honored for excellence in its ECCD program in the 2nd Gawad Edukampyon for Local Governance 2023.

South Cotabato’s Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children (LCAT-VAWC) was awarded for ideal functionality under a regional DILG recognition.
