South Cotabato’s Free Hospitalization Program Earns Public Praise, Highlights Compassionate Healthcare

KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato, December 26, 2025 — The Free Hospitalization Program of the Provincial Government of South Cotabato continues to make a meaningful impact on the lives of its constituents, earning public praise for easing the financial burden of medical care and delivering quality health services.

In a social media post, Joey Crisostomo Arizaleta expressed his gratitude to the South Cotabato Provincial Hospital (SCPH) after his father was admitted and treated for almost eight days without paying any hospital charges.

According to Arizaleta, they were not asked to settle any fees during the entire period of confinement, underscoring the province’s commitment to accessible healthcare.

Arizaleta also extended his heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of SCPH, commending the “nami gid kag mataas nga kalidad” (excellent and high-quality) service provided to his father throughout his hospitalization.

He noted that beyond the financial relief, the compassion and professionalism of the hospital personnel made a significant difference during a difficult time for their family.

South Cotabato is recognized as a leading province in promoting free hospitalization, a flagship initiative under the leadership of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr.

The program aims to reduce, if not totally eliminate, the financial strain experienced by patients and their families when seeking medical care in provincial government-run hospitals.

The Free Hospitalization Program reflects the provincial government’s broader goal of ensuring inclusive and people-centered governance, where access to quality healthcare is treated as a basic service rather than a privilege.

As testimonials like Arizaleta’s continue to surface, the program stands as a testament to how responsive leadership and well-supported public health institutions can directly uplift the lives of ordinary citizens, especially in times when health and finances are most vulnerable.
