South Cotabato’s “Serbisyo Caravan” Brings Government Services to Barangay Malugong

The Provincial Government of South Cotabato, through its Convergence Approach for Transformation and Change-Unification Program (CATCH-UP), successfully conducted a two-day “Serbisyo Caravan” in Barangay Malugong, T’boli. The initiative, led by Governor Reynaldo Sucayan Tamayo Jr., aimed to deliver essential services to one of the most  communities in the province. The “Serbisyo Caravan” provided a comprehensive package of government services, including medical check-ups, distribution of essential goods, agricultural assistance, issuance of legal documents, and many other vital services.

Various government agencies and local offices participated in the event, ensuring that residents had access to the services they needed without having to travel to distant government centers. Addressing Social and Economic Needs Governor Tamayo emphasized that the program is not just about providing immediate aid but also about bridging the gap between the government and the people. He highlighted that initiatives like the “Serbisyo Caravan” help reduce vulnerabilities that may lead individuals to seek alternatives outside the law, particularly in insurgency-prone areas.

The caravan is part of the provincial government’s ongoing strategy to promote social stability by ensuring that residents, especially those in geographically isolated areas, do not feel neglected. It aligns with South Cotabato’s broader efforts to address poverty, health concerns, and lack of access to government support, which are among the factors that contribute to unrest in remote communities.

Residents of Barangay Malugong welcomed the initiative, expressing gratitude for the services provided. Many of them struggle to access healthcare, livelihood support, and legal documentation due to the barangay’s distance from town centers. The caravan provided an opportunity for them to receive these essential services without additional costs or long travel times.

The success of the “Serbisyo Caravan” in Barangay Malugong highlights the importance of direct government engagement in fostering long-term peace and development. Governor Tamayo remains committed to expanding the reach of public services and ensuring that no community in South Cotabato is left behind.
