South Cotabato, Philippines — As 2025 begins, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato (PGSC) reaffirms its commitment to ongoing development projects and sustainable progress across the province.
During the Gov Meets the Press on Monday, Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. emphasized that the province’s priorities for the new year remain aligned with his oath—ensuring South Cotabato’s steady progress and development.
“Tuloy-tuloy pa rin lahat ng direction na meron tayo—yung mga development plans natin,” Governor Tamayo said. “By 2027, yung mga commitment natin regarding sa construction of classrooms, roads, and other infrastructure developments, ay maaabot natin.”
Key development projects include the construction of additional classrooms, the expansion of South Cotabato Provincial Hospital, farm-to-market roads, and the rehabilitation of sports complex, among others.
The hospital extension project, designed to accommodate 800 to 1,000 bed capacity, will have its turnover to the contractor this January, with additional construction set to follow.
This project will greatly benefit patients, as they will gain access to improved facilities, services, and treatment. Moreover, with free hospitalization offered in the province, even those who cannot afford medical expenses will receive the care they need.
“Dahil sa free hospitalization, marami na rin tayong kababayan outside South Cotabato na dito nagpapa-hospital dahil alam nila na makaka-avail sila ng libreng hospitalisasyon,” Governor Tamayo said.
In education, the construction of additional classrooms is progressing steadily. Out of the 600 classrooms targeted for completion, approximately 400 are already in use, providing students, teachers, and staff with a more conducive learning environment.
Governor Tamayo assured that the 600-classroom target will be accomplished by 2026, provided the projects remain on track.
For 2025 and beyond, PGSC is committed to ensuring that no aspect of development will be overlooked. They are lifting all aspects of progress together for the benefit of South Cotabato.
“Palagi kong sinasabi sa ating mga kababayan na lahat ng aspeto ng development ay sabay nating iniaangat dito sa lalawigan ng South Cotabato,” Governor Tamayo said.
Under the leadership of Governor Tamayo, South Cotabato remains focused on initiatives that prioritize the welfare of its residents, aiming for holistic and inclusive development that thrives the entire province.
