KORONADAL CITY- At least 1,055 farmers in South Cotabato are set to avail of the Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC) Expanded Survival and Recovery Assistance Program for Rice Farmers (SURE Aid) worth Php15,000 each.
The ACPC is the newest loan facility implemented by the Department of Agriculture in partnership with the Land Bank of the Philippines.
During the orientation conducted at the Capitol Covered Court here, farmers were assured that eligible farmers can avail of one-time loan assistance at 0% interest rate payable for eight years.
Provincial Agriculturist Justina Navarette said this is a great relief for the farmers as prices of palay remain low.
Through the DA 12 headed by Regional Executive Director Milagros Casis, a series of similar orientation was being conducted regionwide to reach out to more farmers to avail of the SURE Aid Program.
Casis said, at least Php1.5 billion fund intended for the program was approved earlier through an agreement by the ACPC and the LBP.
Under this program, farmer-beneficiaries only has to pay PHP1,875 per year for the said loan, which is very affordable for small farmers.
The agriculture department believes that by bringing credit facility to the farmers, agriculture will thrive and continue to grow.
