South Cotabato welcomes the arrival of at least ten Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) who will arrive in General Santos City Airport anytime soon.
Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. said in a press conference held today that these OFWs are accepted in the province after they have already undergone the 14-day quarantine period in Metro Manila.
“They need to come home and we are helping them,” Tamayo said,
These foreign workers came from various local government units in the province.
Three of them came from the City of Koronadal, two from Polomolok, two from Surallah, two from Lake Sebu and one from Tupi.
Tamayo said the province is exploring possibilities on how to help these foreign workers.
“It’s either they will be billeted in a hotel or they will go home directly to their families. It depends.” He said,
Based on reports coming from the Office of the Civil defense in Region -12, there were a total of 33 stranded OFWs in the region who will be going home soon.
Aside from South Cotabato, there are at least six from North Cotabato, five from Sultan Kudarat, two from Sarangani, Seven from General Santos City, and three from Cotabato City.
