SouthCot’s Barkada Kontra Droga reclaims national tilt

The Barkada Kontra Droga of Sto. Niño National High School is set to receive the award as Most Outstanding Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD) Implementers in the Secondary schools for the Year 2017-2018 after it ranked first place among five (5) finalists nationwide based on the final rating of the paper evaluation and field validation from the team of national evaluators held in March this year.
The awarding ceremony will be held on July 12, 2019 at Richmonde Hotel, 21 San Miguel Avenue Pasig City. It will be attended by representatives from the winning school, DepEd South Cotabato Division, DepEd 12 Regional Office and the Provincial Anti Drug Abuse Council.
BKD -SNNHS reclaims the national tilt after it emerged as the national winner in 2015 but did not make it at the regional level in 2016.
Their defeat, however, served as a big challenge for them in order to pursue more meaningful programs and projects to help stop the proliferation of illegal drugs in their school and the community.
Aside from BKD-SNNHS as top winner, other schools securing the top spot are the following:
2nd prize – Agusan Del Sur National High School from Agusan del Sur
3rd prize- Bangcud National High School from Malaybalay City
Runner-Up – Tambulig National High School from Zamboanga Del Sur
Runner-Up – San Josef National High School from Cabanatuan City
Cash prizes at stake include Php50k, 40k, 30k and 10k each for the two consolation prizes and a plaque respectively.
The SNNHS BKD vows to continue in their advocacy through the implementation of sub-programs such as Drama Kontra Droga, Sayaw Kontra Droga, Musika Kontra Droga, Pluma Kontra Druga, Guhit Kontra Droga, Teknolohiya Kontra Droga, Edukasyon Kontra Droga, Laruan Kontra Droga, Peer Counselors Club, Barkadahan sa Gulayan sa Paaralan, and Apostles of God Against Drugs.
Barkada Kontra Droga is an effective peer-based preventive education and information program of the school with a vision of attaining a drug-free society and to produce morally upright citizens, and the institution will continue to expand the influence of this program in its grounds by helping students design a life that will also leave a legacy to be passed on future generations.
