Tourism Promotions and Marketing section of the Arts, Culture, Tourism and Museum (ACTM) Unit of the province is now preparing for the Race to 11 Eco-Challenge, a modified version from the original Race to Seven Eco-Challenge launched in Lake Sebu last November 2010.
Tourism Operations Officer I Francisco Cerbo Jr., ACTM Promotions and Marketing Supervisor disclosed during recent regular monthly meeting of Municipal Tourism Officers (MTOs) that the annual tourism event which is now on its 11th year was changed to Race to 11 because it will now involve the participation of 11 LGUs of the province.
Toriginal Race to Seven conceptualized by ACTM was in reference to Seven Falls, the banner eco-cultural tourism attraction site of South Cotabato. The activity is held every November of the year to coincide with the Helobung Festival of Lake Sebu.
Activities that participants were made to comply as part of the eco-challenge were running, trekking, canoeing, obstacle course, tree-planting, fishing, cooking and even bead-makinkiing, as part of immersion in the community.
In the Race to 11, Cerbo said the race will start from the participating LGU and different tasks will be performed along the way until they reached the finish line in Seven Falls.
The different performance tasks of the co-Challenge will be decided by the MTOs including the criteria, mechanics and guidelines before the vent this November in Lake Sebu.
