SP authorizes Gov. Tamayo to ink 7 major development pacts

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of South Cotabato approved several significant ordinances this April, authorizing Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. to enter into various agreements aimed at strengthening development programs, public health services, environmental management, and social protection initiatives in the province.

Among the approved measures is a memorandum of agreement with the Office of the Presidential Adviser for Peace, Reconciliation and Unity for the localization of the National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security, as well as other related government social protection programs.

To enhance livelihood opportunities and support local industries, the provincial board also approved partnerships with the Municipality of Tupi and the Tboli Vegetable Farmers Association for the establishment of village-type food processing centers in Barangay Kablon, Tupi, and Barangay Poblacion, Tboli.

A separate ordinance was also approved to authorize an agreement with the Development Bank of the Philippines for a salary loan facility, providing financial support options for qualified personnel.

Environmental governance was likewise strengthsssssened through the approval of a multi-agency agreement involving the Province of Sarangani and various local government units for the creation of the Buayan-Malungon River Basin Management Council, aimed at improving watershed management and ecological sustainability.

In the health sector, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved agreements with Mercury Drug Corporation to bolster the Crisis Intervention Program. Additionally, members supported the MOA with the Department of Health–Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) SOCCSKSARGEN to implement medical assistance programs for indigent and financially incapacitated patients.

These approved ordinances reflect South Cotabato’s continuing commitment to inclusive development, stronger public services, and strategic partnerships that directly benefit communities across the province.
