Supreme Court affirms recognition of Gov. Tamayo as PFP President

Koronadal City, South Cotabato, Philippines | August 29, 2025— The Supreme Court has upheld the earlier ruling of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) en banc, recognizing the leadership of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. as the National President of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), the political party of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.

In its decision, the Supreme Court affirmed that the 2022 Constitution and By-Laws of the PFP are the official and controlling documents of the party, which state that national officers are to serve a three-year term.

This means that Governor Tamayo, along with Secretary General Thompson Lantion and General Counsel George Briones, who assumed their posts in 2021, remain the legitimate officers of the party until 2024.

The Supreme Court also declared as invalid the election held on December 14, 2023, by a faction led by Leandro Verceles, Jr. and Antonio Rodriguez, Jr., citing lack of quorum, proper notice, and authority. Governor Tamayo was re-elected as National President of the PFP in September 2024, with a term extending until 2027.

“Despite internal conflicts, the doors of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas remain open to Verceles and Rodriguez if they decide to rejoin the party,” — Gov. Tamayo stressed.
