After Polomolok grabs province’s Clean and Green championship spot last year from Hall of Famer Surallah, the latter is out to get back to top spot.
“We prepared to hopefully win this year’s championship spot,” Vice Mayor Pinky Divinagracia said on the exit conference with the program’s evaluators during the initial evaluation held recently.
Divinagracia serves as the municipality’s Chair of its localized Clean and Green program.
She added they have involved more groups to participate in their goal to win.
“This year, we implemented ‘Adopt-a-Barangay’ program by which each of our departments at the municipal hall adopted a barangay they can assist or support in order for it to be fully ready for the province’s evaluation and at the same time, promote sustainability of the said program down to the barangay and purok level,” Divinagracia disclosed.
She admits this is their way of intensifying campaign to get back to top spot which ‘they used to own’ years before Polomolok took over last year (2013).
“We are out to win this year’s competition,” Divinagracia said.
Mayor Antonio Bendita also added through the strict evaluation of the province’s technical working group (TWG) for Clean and Green program, they have seen more specific areas which they can work on in their policies.
“We are thankful that things to improve on were pinpointed by the evaluators,” Bendita disclosed.
Meanwhile, Polomolok Mayor Honey Lumayag –Matti also hopes they can manage to maintain first/champ spot they got last year.
Also, previous year’s third placer Tampakan is also putting more efforts for this year’s contest as they implement their version of Clean and Green local evaluation.
Mayor Leonardo Escobillo said he personally goes around not only in barangays but also in schools to promote the real essence of the said program. ~by Ellen De leon Manipon, Provincial Governor’s Office- Information Division
