South Cotabato, Koronadal- The Provincial Government of South Cotabato has concluded its program, Celebrating Excellence in Organic Gardening, with the much-anticipated awarding ceremony for the Search for the Best Organic Gulayan & Backyard Garden. The initiative showcased the province’s unwavering commitment to sustainable agriculture, empowering communities to embrace healthier and eco-friendly food production practices.
Emerging as the Grand Champion, the Municipality of Surallah stood out with its outstanding innovation, dedication, and passion for organic gardening. By utilizing sustainable techniques and creative solutions, Surallah demonstrated how backyard gardening can effectively bolster food security while fostering environmental stewardship.
John Rey Fuerte, Rural-Based Organization Coordinator of Surallah, expressed his deep gratitude to the Provincial Agriculture and Environment Office (PAGRI) and the Provincial Government for spearheading such a transformative program. “Thank you to PAGRI for establishing this organic gulayan. Today, we face many uncertainties about the safety of what we eat. Through organic gardening, we are assured of consuming healthier, safer food, which benefits us all. My message to the Provincial Government is to please continue this program because agriculture is the backbone of society,” Fuerte remarked passionately.
The program celebrated not only the exemplary efforts of the winners but also the collective dedication of South Cotabato’s communities to sustainability and health.
