South Cotabato, Philippines – The Provincial Government of South Cotabato headed by Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., through the Office of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer expands its disaster preparedness initiatives through strengthened training and seminars across the province.
The expanded disaster preparedness initiatives highlight inclusivity and diversity of available disaster responders in the province through capacity building seminars and training on various private and non-government institutions in the province.
Mandated by the governor, this community building initiative follows his call of a collective collaboration between government and private institutions in disaster preparedness.
“As governor of the province, I call for members of our community – let us unite, let us collaborate, let us work together, because this initiative is for our province, and for the safety of our future generations,” Governor Tamayo said.
According to the OPDRRMO South Cotabato, their office has since trained persons-with-disability (PWD) responders, Youth volunteer responders, and various volunteers across different institutions in the province of South Cotabato.
In addition, OPDRRMO also conducts information, education, and communication campaigns on disaster preparedness such as the recent first-ever DRRM Summit in the Province of South Cotabato.
This initiative spotlights the commitment of the Provincial Government through its OPDRRMO to further capacitate disaster responders not only in the local government units, but also in private institutions.
OPRRMO allotted a total of PHP10,000,000.00 budget for training and seminars for the concurrent year
