KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO- Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. has pledged to eliminate the province’s classroom backlog before his term ends in 2028.
During Monday’s Flag Ceremony and Convocation, Tamayo announced that the national government has already allocated an initial ₱50 million for building more classrooms.
“Mayroon na tayong SARO (Special Allotment Release Order) na ₱122 million. Mayroon pang ₱122 million na paparating para sa infrastructures, concreting of roads, at may ₱50 million pa para sa mga classroom—iyan ay pauna pa lamang,” he said.
Tamayo also emphasized President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s initiative to devolve more funds to local government units, allowing faster implementation of infrastructure projects.
According to Tamayo, South Cotabato currently faces a backlog of around 300 classrooms. However, he expressed confidence that the provincial government is making steady progress.
The provincial government continues to coordinate with national agencies to fast-track classroom construction and ensure better learning facilities for students across the province.
