T’boli suspends tourism activities amid security concerns

T’boli, South Cotabato – Local authorities have temporarily suspended all tourism activities in parts of T’boli, specifically in Sitio T’bol, Barangay Lacunon, to safeguard visitors following emerging security concerns.

The suspension, formalized through Municipal Executive Order No. 27, mandates the immediate closure of tourism operations in the affected areas. According to officials, the order is a precautionary response to a developing community conflict, aiming to prevent potential risks to visitors while the situation is being monitored.

Francisco M. Cerbo Jr., Promotions Head of the Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Museum Unit, emphasized that the temporary closure of Lake Holon and other sites is a proactive move by Mayor Keo Dayle Tuan.

“Tungod kay resilient kita sa South Cotabato, nag-papanaog na sang executive order si Mayor Keo Dayle Tuan para sa temporary closure sang Lake Holon kag iban pa nga tourism activities sa lugar,” Cerbo said.

He appealed for cooperation from stakeholders as the LGU works to restore safety.

As part of the stabilization efforts, local authorities and security forces will conduct clearing operations in the designated zones. These initiatives are intended to neutralize threats and ensure all areas meet safety standards before reopening to the public.

Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. expressed support for the decision, reiterating the provincial government’s commitment to maintaining peace and order.

While T’boli remains a premier destination in South Cotabato, the municipal government clarified that the closure would remain in effect only until peace is fully restored.

Travelers are advised to monitor official government announcements for updates and to respect the current restrictions.
