Three barangays in Surallah benefit from farm-to-market road expansion

South Cotabato, Philippines – Farmers and residents in three barangays of Surallah are now reaping the benefits of improved access and mobility with the completion of the second phase of the Centrala–Canahay–Buenavista farm-to-market road project

Implemented by the Provincial Government of South Cotabato through the Office of the Provincial Engineer, the almost Php15 million  project connects Barangay Centrala, Barangay Canahay, and Barangay Buenavista. It is part of the province’s continuing effort to strengthen road networks and support agricultural development.

Project Engineer Sly Stone Severino emphasized the significance of the road to the local community.

“This project will greatly benefit the farmers in the three barangays and nearby barangays as it is now easier and more accessible for them to transport their produce and products from their farms to the local markets,” Severino said.

He also stressed that the new road network will improve access to essential government services.

“The newly constructed roads will also help us [the government] achieve a more efficient delivery of services,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato reaffirmed its commitment to clean and transparent governance. Together with the Inspectorate Unit and the Office of the Provincial Information Officer, the Provincial Engineer’s Office conducted a thorough inspection before the project’s official turnover from the contractor.

The newly completed road forms part of the second phase of the provincial government’s broader road network project aimed at strengthening connectivity across Surallah’s agricultural barangay.
