City of Makati – With a bang on a gong, the “Treasures of SOCCSKSARGEN (SOX)” Travel and Trade Expo opened at the posh Glorietta Activity Center, this city, on the afternoon of April 11 showcasing the “best of the best” of SOX’s products, tourist sites and attractions.
Department of Tourism (DOT) 12 Regional Director Nelly Nita Dillera led the formal opening of the 4-day expo after the traditional demsu (T’boli blessing ritual).
RD Dillera together with DOT Director for Tourism Standards and Regulation Ma. Rica Bueno, Brand Architect Amor Maclang of Geiser Maclang Consultancy and other partner agencies representatives likewise cut the ceremonial ribbon to to start the expo.
SOX Is composed of Cotabato City, General Santos City, Kidapawan City, Tacurong City and Koronadal City and the provinces of North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani.
Aside from the 9 LGUs, some 30 other exhibitors from national government agencies and MSMEs participated in the expo showcasing their respective products and advocacies.
Internationally-acclaimed Hinugyaw Dance Troupe of Koronadal City earlier entertained the audience with Mindanao dances.
Investment matching and business matching sessions are expected within thin the duration of the activity participated by project proponents from region 12 and local investors.
Sales Calls with travel and tour operators and exhibitors with participation of Regional Tourism Council 12 and partner agencies will be a daily activity during the expo.
The culmination will be highlighted by the Food Dance Drama of Hinugyaw Dance Troupe and fashion show of the creations of internationally-renowned fashion designer Jared Servano of Koronadal City.
